    Today’s Hatin’: Death by Perfume

Even though I am as of now officially on holiday (yaaay!), now that I have more free time in my hands, apparently my brain has decided that thinking of things that annoy me was a good use of this time. So in a matter of moments I dashed off this hatey post, which got ahead of others in the queue. I have to say that as far as perfumes and fragrances go, there are more of these that I like than not. Those that I did NOT like, however, have left a lasting impression in me.  Right now there are three that come to mind: “Sunflowers” by Elizabeth Arden, Liz…

Organic Rose Otto Lip Serum by Dr. Organic & Douglas Naturals lipbalm

I looove roses, I do, but as soon as Valentine’s starts creeping round social media and shop windows, suddenly the world is all via GIPHY But! the truth is that deep down I find collective nonsense like this entertaining, so I’m playing too, and today I bring roses… well, not really: I do bring lipbalm, though, which is a necessity for me at this time of the year; lately I’ve been using this Douglas Naturals lipbalm with organic pomegranate extract, and the Organic Rose Otto Lip Serum by Dr. Organic. Lipbalms and I, a tale of devotion (& a brief disgression) First off, I want to make one thing clear:…

    🌻Love You, Love You Not… La Roche-Posay Effaclar Duo + & Anthelios SPF 50+

One of these products I like very much, the other… not. In fact, I can’t bring myself to apply the latter now, so I stopped using it, or rather, I don’t use it on my face, which is what is made for. The product in question is La Roche-Posay Anthelios SPF 50+ invisible face mist. I bought this one at the end of summer, when days were still long, so when it was time for me to go home the sun was still shining bright. Desperately seeking protection: La Roche-Posay Anthelios SPF 50+ invisible face mist Those of you who have stopped by my blog before will likely be aware…

    Booktag: Seven Book Sins

Via [rom] at Flickr, CC BY-SA 2.0. Lasciate ogne speranza, voi ch’intrate… Because it’s Saturday, and because we don’t live for paints, powders and potions alone (that’d be nice, though), but for words that inspire too… at least I do. I first saw the booktag “Seven Book Sins” in Alicia’s blog Momentos de Evasión, and I loved it, being that I love everything to do with books, with sin, or with both. So I’m playing too: in case you aren’t familiar with the concept of this tag is about, the idea is to connect a read with each of the seven deadly sins. 👿 Wrath Books that were disappointing, or…

I’ve been duped! “NYX” matte lipstick, or that’s what I thought…

I wanted to add a matte lipstick to my stash, so one day I saw this NYX matte lipstick in a shop window, I went in to nab it… no luck with the purchase, though, because a while after I’d opened it I began to suspect it was a fake. “NYX” matte lipstick, or how to throw 7€ in the trash Question before proceeding: notice something not-quite-right about this product? More clues… Solution to the question posed about the 1st image: For comparison, here’s the original item, bought from an authorized seller: Although I’m kind of a grammar and accent mark nazi, I didn’t notice the discrepancies until I began…

Benecos lipliner and gloss, plus some Friday Musings

A brief review I haven’t yet tried a lip product from this brand that I don’t like, and these Benecos lipliner and gloss were no exception. I kinda surprised myself with the lipliner purchase, because I haven’t even used lipliner since I was a budding beauty-addict in my teens… one of the chintziest, most repellent fashions that marked that era was dark liner paired with lighter lipstick*, and I suppose this traumatized me away from this beauty item. Anyway, the red pencil caught my eye ever since I got the lipstick in that color, and I’ve actually ended up using it more often than the pink one, strange as it…

Go clean your makeup brushes NOW!

Dear readers: this is a PSA reminding you to clean your makeup brushes, your vanity table and your war paints. And when I say go clean your makeup stuff, I mean do it TODAY. This is an order. While you’re at it, clean up and disinfect everything else too, not just brushes and makeup: your sponges, your makeup bag, tweezers, scissors and pencil sharpener, and your jars. Check your makeup’s due date, and throw out that mascara from the summer of 2016. At least I hope it is from ‘16. Yuck. Get rid of all the old, dingy and useless stuff bogging you down, and get ready to receive shiny…

Fitness Friday: The Lift Like Lidia edition

A girlpower moment I was a bit overwhelmed this summer, and I paid even less attention than usual to the Games. I didn’t even watch the opening ceremony, and I usually do, though that’s typically about the extent of my interest in any of these things. Likewise, I never paid much attention to weightlifting, until Lidia Valentín nabbed bronze in Rio and awakened my inner fangirl. As a result, I found this video and I now have more new idols: these ten-year-old girls who lift weights that still make me tremble. I now feel like I ought to retire from the world, shamed by my puniness and lack of drive.…
